Solar Powered Apple Ipod Or Ipod Charger in the Works?

Several news sites are reporting that a patent for Apple’s famous iPod has been discovered. A patent that was filed by Apple shows the design for a solar powered iPod. That would definitely be a great idea, and a huge hit with gadget lovers who also love “green.”

This doesn’t necessarily mean that Apple has definite plans to produce this. Companies often file patents on several product line ideas, even though they don’t necessarily ever produce any of them.

The designs featured a new case for the solar powered iPod, which featured small solar cell strips and circuitry. This would help charge the ipod, just like the solar strips in your calculator work. I am sure it will still need a main battery, however.

This is certainly a neat idea, and I am glad that Apple is looking to possibly make some moves into the solar powered product industry. I am not sure if this will ever come to fruition, and probably wouldn’t be too practical. But hey, it certainly sounds cool, huh?

Are Solar Powered Pool Heaters Worth It? Do They Really Work?

Solar pool heaters are an ingenious idea! After all, why waste electricity when you can simply harness the power of the good old sun to heat that water instead? Not only that, but most pool heaters don’t have wires, so you don’t run the risk of electrical shock like you can with other wired pool heaters. And once you warm them up, they tend to stay warm as it does take a large volume of water several hours to lose its heat  (depending on temperature conditions).

But solar powered pool water heaters can be pricey sometimes, so are they worth it? If you don’t want to freeze to death in a pool, then I think that a solar pool water heater would be a great investment. I can remember memories of pool parties in my teens, and I always dreaded that ice cold pool water. When the pool water isn’t heated, it takes the body several minutes to adjust, and can be quite uncomfortable for you and your guests. Instead, by warming the water temperature up with a solar water heater, you can enjoy swimming without your teeth clanking together from the cold.

If you shop around online, you can sometimes find a fantastic deal, and it will come shipped straight to your door. You can’t beat that can you? And solar pool water heaters usually are not very hard to install at all. There are countless tutorials online to show just how to do this. So if you are considering getting a solar water heater, I say go for it. Just shop around and find a great sale online, and turn your ice cold pool into a warm luxurious experience.
